Surrey Police South East Allowance: £3,000/year (£250/month) across all 3 divisions

Because Surrey directly borders Greater London and has some of the highest housing and commuting costs in the UK outside the M25, Surrey Police pays the full £3,000/year South East Allowance (£250/month gross) to officers across North Surrey (Staines), East Surrey (Reigate) and West Surrey (Guildford). Note that the PRRB statutory maximum cap rose by 3.5% to £3,105/year from 1 September 2026; you can model either £3,000 or £3,105 in the calculator above.

Under Police Regulations 2003 Annex U, the South East Allowance is non-pensionable. Your PPS 2015 pension contribution (12.88% / 13.88% / 14.22%) is calculated solely on your national basic pay (£32,256–£52,014 for a Constable), while Income Tax and National Insurance apply to your combined gross pay. For a basic-rate taxpayer, the £3,000 South East Allowance adds approximately £168/month net to your payslip.
